The Significance of Copper

Copper is one of the most important metals to have helped in bringing about the industrial revolution. This is so because it is indispensable to be used as wire for electrical equipments and electronic devices. Being a good conductor of electricity along with its quality of being very flexible, it is the only wire which can be used for electrical connections. Because this metal contains many impurities, it takes the process of electrolysis to free it from cadmium impurities to get “Electrolyte Copper”. This is considered to be 100 % pure variety of copper.

Bare copper wire is a type of this wire. It is used to make cables for electricity equipment like light and heavy transportation, lighting of subways, running mine trains, industrial cranes and buses.

Copper wire manufacturers have to be competent in all processes of copper processing if they want to cater to a larger cross section of customers. After extraction of copper rod from its ore, the process of copper wire manufacturing is not identical. Many varieties of copper wire are manufactured by different processes, each involving some very specialized procedures.

Various varieties of copper wires are tin coated copper wire, braided copper wire, tin coated rounded or flat braided copper wire, CRT Earthing wire or Assembly, flexible connectors or jumpers, bare stranded copper wire, flexible rope wire, flexible rope cable, submersible winding wire or coated glass wire. All these serve different purposes and require varying manufacturing processes. Some uses to which copper wires are put depend upon its ability of being twisted without breaking.

Copper must be the most popular metal all over the world and that is the reason why some countries depend on its trade for running their economy. Only the significance of electrical works gives copper wires such a big significance that we don’t even need to consider the other uses that it is put to.

Other uses like kitchen sinks, jewelry, cooking utensils are important themselves. The entire telecommunication industry is dependent upon the utilization of tinsel copper wires in order to work shows how important this little fragment of brown, shiny twisted wire. We get this wire in our homes but that never makes us wonder how much of a role it is playing in our lives. We should consider the importance of this metal, especially the role of the copper wire manufacturers in our lives.

Tinsel Wires

It is in fact no need to explain of all the metals used throughout the world copper wire comes on the top. It contains a lot of features and its use in the life of modern people is very significant. It has a major role in the arena of electrical segment where it is used in numerous ways. It is a very good conductor of electricity so its primary use is in manufacturing wire. Although other materials can also be used for manufacturing purposes but the most preferred one is copper.

Copper wires
are available in both insulated and non insulated forms as depending on the requirements and the form of copper wire (ground wire) that has no insulation and protection is known as bare copper wire. Bare copper wire is used as a base of cables and wire and thus it plays a major role in cable industries. It is usually available in smaller AWG sizes because it facilitates more flexibility when bending around corners is performed. But when it comes to the demand of maximum flexibility then tinsel wire is undoubtedly comes first due to its ability of resistance to failures. It is mainly found in cords used for telephones and it is made by wrapping several strands of thin copper foil around a textile core. Flexibility increases as a result of thinness of the foil.

Most of the users consider only flexible wires as the best ones but sometimes stiffness is also required when there is a consideration of sending a long wire through conduit. Another form of ground wire is THHN when outdoor wiring is required and it is used in insulated form to protect against climate conditions like moisture. Another type is Braided Copper Wire which is used in electric appliances, electric stove and storage battery.

Coating of tin on copper wire is performed when it is used in heaters and high temperature instruments. A step by step process is used for this process. First electrolytic process occurs in which material passes through the chemical tank and by using electric current on the tin slab the process comes to completion. The second process is hot dip process in which the tin slab is melted into an electric pot and the material that is going to be made passed through it.

Recycling of copper wire is also in use today and people are continuously growing their business with the recycling of this important material. Because of the wide use of copper wiring in electrical and automobile segments it is very easy to utilize the copper wire when there is no longer any requirement of copper wire in the equipments.

One thing should be kept in mind before buying the copper wire that it must purchased from a reputed company in the market as there is a wide range of manufactures and exporters available. It provides reliability of the product with an appropriate usage of your money. It is a metal that is worth of its cost always so consideration of buying the best must be kept in mind.

Copper Wire

Copper is a metal and is used in making electrical equipments and electronics gadgets. The main use of copper is in making electrical wires because it is a good conductor of electricity. It is a type of a metal containing many mixtures. The purity of copper varies and there is a type which is called cadmium free copper, also known as Electrolyte Copper. This is 100 % pure variety.
Bare copper wire has a complex shape and is made into cables. It is used as overhead electricity source for heavy and light transit systems, subways, electrically run mine trains, buses, and the industrial cranes. The copper wire manufacture do involve some stages which later on shift in different directions depending on the use it is supposed to be put in. The copper wire manufacturers have to convert the raw copper rod extracted from its ore and take it through some processes that are involved in their manufacturing.
First of all, Continuous Cast Copper rods of a specified diameter are put into wire drawing and this drawn wire is made into different kind of wire gauges.
After completing this drawing process, the now underprepared wires are kept in an Electric Furnace pot for getting it converted into soft wires of copper. This process is called annealing of the wire.
After the process of annealing of the wires is complete, the process of bunching and stranding of these wires is starts. There are machines which aid in making different sizes of stranded and bunched wires which are still raw and unfit for commercial use as the last step is yet to be taken. The nozzling of these wires is undertaken to prepare the surface of wires better for the next process.
The next step in copper wire manufacture is the Tinning Process. It can be done through either Hot dip process or through Electroplating. In the Hot dip process of copper wire manufacture, the tin is prepared into what is called pickled tin and wire is passed through this. This gives the wires a coating. They are then wound on reels.

The next step in copper wire manufacture is braiding. The braided copper wires are essential for many processes. The copper wire manufacture process is almost complete now but braiding or twisting the wires in order to make braided copper wires according to specifications is important as only then it can be put to different uses. Only braided copper wires become useful for commercial use.

The process for tinsel wires of copper is slightly different. It involves a flattening process, a nylon lapping process, but then again it is put in braiding machines. These slightly different braided copper wires are put to different use which non-tinsel wires cannot accomplish. In the end of every process braided copper wires is the result.
Another process for this metal is where a glass coating is provided to the copper wire. Even in this process, braided copper wires are the end result as the last step is braiding of wires.

Copper Pricing and its Effect on the Copper Price Industry

Among all the materials that are quite difficult to deal with in the wire and cable industry, the name of copper comes on the top. All those people who have worked with wire and cable industry and distributor must have kept close eye on copper wire on a daily basis. You must know that copper is a commodity that is very volatile and could change the price of a cable significantly.

Since the early days when copper started using in the cable industry, the price of copper has been increased drastically, from 1.66/lb to 2.55/lb. you can check the price of the copper over the respective websites and you will see that the price of copper actually went up as high as 4.20/lb in last few months. In the present time, a standard item of copper is a 4/0 a Welding Cable which has around .60 lbs of copper per foot. The experts say that when copper is at 2.195/lb then it changes by .10/lb and the 4/0 Welding’s price changes around 5%. And this is a daily routine in the cable industry.

There are a few cables sold in the present time that aren’t as affected by the pricing of copper because of the insulation on each conductor, the overall rubber jacket and the fillers. since there is a lot more involved in the making of the cables hence there is more options to work on the pricing, Solid Bare Copper, electrical wire, THHN, Welding cable, Solid Bare Copper, electrical wire, THHN, and USE-2 are some of the most difficult types of copper wire because you only have the bare copper stranding and the insulation.

Remember, in order to make electric wiring in your home you should choose good quality copper wire. In order to avail the best quality copper wire at cheaper price than the conventional store you are suggested to go for a reputed online copper wire shop.
